With plans for Renewable Energy Development Zones (REDZ) being submitted for Cabinet approval in the first quarter of this year the REDZ are looking to transform and streamline the way South African wind projects are bid for and approved. The government body The Department of Environmental Affairs who are leading the proposal have announced a panel of leading scientists, academics and government officials to explain the key elements of this approaching regulation.

The discussion, being held at Wind Energy Summit South Africa, will debate how the REDZ plan to reduce risks for project developers by creating established zones in which the approval process for wind projects is more streamlined and certain incentives will be put in place for those wishing to develop in these areas.

Wind Energy Summit South Africa is being held in Cape Town, 9-10 April 2014. It brings together the leading minds in wind energy from within South Africa and across the globe.
