The awards, which celebrate and reward achievement and excellence in the renewables sector, was announced at a lunchtime ceremony in St Davids Hotel & Spa, Cardiff Bay, on Thursday 9th October.

TEL Managing Director Martin Murphy said: “We’re extremely honoured to have won this award which recognises our contribution to the growth of Wales’ renewable energy supply chain. As a small privately-owned technology company, we rely heavily on our supply chain to carry out design, provide equipment and supply works and services.”

He continued: “We remain committed to developing our business here in Wales, and to contributing to the creation of a sustainable, low carbon economy for the Country.”

An impressive 188 suppliers and contractors have been involved with the DeltaStream project so far, 67 of which are Welsh companies, including Cardiff-based Hyder Consulting, Mustang Marine in Pembroke Dock and Raymond Brown Construction of Bridgend.

TEL is working in partnership with Milford Haven Port Authority to develop an operating base for the forthcoming sea trials, and commissioned Mustang Marine to fabricate and assemble the DeltaStream device at its facilities in Pembroke Port.

“These partnerships provide a unique opportunity for the long-term development of the marine renewables industry in Wales, will create and preserve jobs in Pembrokeshire, and will help put Wales at the forefront of marine energy development,” said TEL in a statement.

In addition to being backed by Welsh renewables company Eco2 Ltd, the company has attracted funding from the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
